Childbirth is one of the most amazing and most taxing efforts the human body can perform. For many women recovery involves tender skin, especially after tearing or an episiotomy. Warm sitz baths and sprays are often recommended to ease some of that discomfort.
This natural spray uses lavender oil, which soothes occasional skin irritation, together with frankincense oil from the Boswellia tree, long used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese practice. The two work together to create a calming effect.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons witch hazel
- 4 tablespoons filtered water
- 5 drops lavender oil
- 5 drops frankincense oil
Method
- Combine the witch hazel and water in a small glass spray bottle.
- Add the essential oils.
- Shake well and apply to the perineum, or spray onto sanitary pads for a cooling effect.
