essential oils

Essential oils are extracted from plants, but not every plant produces an essential oil. Out of the enormous number of plant species on Earth, fewer than 5% are known to do so. Each essential oil is made up of various chemical constituents that give it a unique aroma and beneficial properties.

Founded in 2008, dōTERRA was built on the mission of sharing therapeutic-grade essential oils with the world. Having seen for themselves the incredible benefits that can be had from using these precious resources, a group of health-care and business professionals set out to make this mission a reality. They formed a company and named it dōTERRA, a Latin derivative meaning “Gift of the Earth”. Essential oils are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, purity and safety used in the industry - CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade ™.

The certified pure CPTG ™ essential oils can be used  in aromatatherapy, as massage oils or taken as food supplements. dōTERRA helps facilitate the various uses of essential oils in their various forms, providing both quality products for traditional applications and technologically advanced applications with modern diffusers, in the form of nutritional supplements and creams. Using a variety of application methods can offer a unique and exciting experience with each oil.

There are three ways to use essential oils:

Through smell

dōTERRA calls this “aromatic” use of essential oils. This includes any application method that helps you experience the aroma of the oil. You can use essential oils aromatically by:

  • Diffusing in an essential oil diffuser
  • Applying a drop to your hands and inhaling
  • Wearing as a personal fragrance

On your skin

“Topical” application of essential oils allows the oil to absorb into the skin. Some ways to use essential oils on your skin are:

  • Massage
  • Apply to targeted areas and rub in
  • Add to lotions or moisturizers

Ingesting

or “internal” use of essential oils allows the oil to be transported throughout your body. Make sure the essential oil is safe for internal use first, and then try one of these methods:

  • Add to a glass of water
  • Take in a veggie capsule
  • Put a drop under your tongue
